“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
-Theodore Roosevelt, 1918

This quote brings to mind something that happened in my old apt building. Someone posted a sign on a public bulletin board with information on joining the recent protest against the Iraq war in Washington DC.

Some days later, some douchebag ripped up the sign and wrote on it something to the effect of: "Move to Canada you socialist hippie" or something like that. I found that utterly ridiculous cause the person who wrote that automatically categorized that person as something that wasn't even really relevant and worse yet, implied that a peacenik was anti American.

While we've never really filled out our "About Us" section this sentiment should go in it: Kat and I are full believers that stating our righteous indignation is not only our right as Americans but should be a privilege that's celebrated, not condemned as anti American just cause it goes against the grain. (Kat, hope I'm not misrepresenting you in any way).

Anyhoo, I thought this Roosevelt quote was awesome cause it reinforces the idea that educated disagreement is a good thing and most importantly, very American.
