US Criticizes Saudi Human Rights Policies Without the Slightest Hint of Irony

The State Department has found it necessary to note that Saudi Arabia's practices of torture and intimidation exceed the thresholds that we've so graciously set by example. Commenter Alan of Leeds, UK is stupefied how the US can take such a stance.
"What right has the US to lecture others on human rights?"
C'mon Alan, as your alcoholic, crack-ho mum always told you, "do what I say, not what I do!"

Propaganda TV Part I

Looks like Fox News may have some competition. The Pentagon Channel, brought to you by the Defense Department, will soon be beaming to more than 11 million viewers via the Dish Network. Some cable systems, including Time Warner, already carry it. Who needs the free press when our all-and-knowing leaders can just spoon feed us their take on the news?

Cashing in on the war... continues

President Bush's uncle made more than $450,000 last month by selling stock in a defense contractor whose profits are growing because of the Iraq war, records show.

Some estimates indicate that the war in Iraq may last for up to 12 years. That can only mean one thing for the Bush clan—Ca$h money!

Your Child will be Left Behind

President Bush's oft-touted No Child Left Behind initiative was deemed "flawed, convoluted, and unconstitutional" (words of the NY Times) by a bi-partisan panel of state legislators. I hope no one voted for him cause they thought it was a swell idea.

Hot Condie?

So there's an entire article in the Washington Post about Condoleezza Rice's outfit during her visit to a German Air Force Base. Is this really newsworthy? I'd expect this in People but the Washington Post? Must purge the thought of Condoleezza Rice as a sexual being from my mind....

Who's afraid of Canadians?

Backing down from the pressure of hard-line union leaders, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. says it will close one of its Canadian stores, just as some 200 workers at the location are near winning the first-ever union contract from the world's largest retailer. See the full article here.

Now the super chain is extending its evil powers by endangering the world's heritage. What do you think? Is this a good place to build a Wal-Mart?

Underwear Banned

Ok, not exactly, but visible underwear is banned. See this article on limiting the dress of folks in VA.

They're apparently outlawing underwear visible above the waistbands of pants. Even Man-thongs are disallowed.

Further Improving our Perception in the World

Oh boy, this was an interesting comment. Like we need any more things to illustrate our disregard for (non American) lives.
